Efficient tool change calculation for maximum cost transparency

With our specialised change tool, you can accurately and realistically calculate the costs of tool changes. Whether for quick calculations or detailed estimates, we provide you with a comprehensive solution based on Schmale standards that can be customised to your needs. Benefit from a reduced error rate and accurate documentation in change management.

Calculating tool changes

It is often asked what the change tool is needed for. One can calculate the tool with and without changes in the basic module of new manufacturing and see the delta costs.

This is certainly the case for a tool change before commissioning, that is, before construction begins, but it is also rather rarely ascertainable. The change costs, with the necessary distinction of the activities that actually come in addition to the basic order, are indeed of importance. A tool that is partially manufactured or even completed with testing incurs a significantly higher effort for the same change than a tool that has not even been planned constructively. Thus, the simple delta consideration predominantly does not work, and the documentation in change management would also be inadequate.

Based on our Connected Programme, we can transition from new calculation to change calculation.
Second stage: the tool is manufactured in China and modified and completed in Germany.

The calculation strategy

The quick calculation is a separate extension module based on the Schmale basic programme for tool cost change calculations.

Schmale standards for various change scenarios are stored within the module. By selecting these standards, you are guided more quickly to a realistic result.

As a result, the number of entries can be significantly reduced, minimising the risk of overlooking cost-relevant aspects of the tool change.

A detailed calculation allows for an extensive and customised estimation tailored to your requirements.

The quick calculation automatically transfers all standard values to the detailed calculation, and all entered specifics of the tool change can be adjusted and set in detail.

In the detailed calculation, material prices, purchased part prices, and hourly rates are currently listed.

Change calculations are offered for the following tools:

  • Sheet metal forming tools
  • Stamping tools
  • Progressive die tools
  • Large and small injection moulding tools
  • Press tools

Post-Calculation

After manufacturing, the calculation can be reconciled with the actual times and costs required.
